The method of estimating the startup current of a large LED screen is not an exact scientific calculation, because the startup current is affected by many factors, including the specifications of the LED screen, circuit design, driving method, environmental conditions, and power supply performance.

However, the startup current of a large LED screen can be roughly estimated or evaluated by the following methods:

I. Estimation based on rated power and operating current

1. Determine the rated power and operating current of a single LED lamp bead:

- This can usually be found in the data sheet or technical specification of the LED lamp bead. For example, the rated operating current of some low-power LED lamp beads may be around 20mA.

2. Calculate the total power and theoretical operating current:

- Based on the total area, resolution, and power of a single LED large screen, the total power of the large screen can be calculated.

- Then, divide the total power by the rated voltage (such as 5V) to get the theoretical total operating current. But please note that this is only the current during normal operation, and the startup current may be larger.

3. Estimate the startup current:

- The startup current is usually several to more than ten times the normal operating current. This multiple depends on the circuit design, power supply performance and the starting characteristics of the LED lamp beads.
- In the absence of specific data support, this multiple can be estimated based on experience or industry practices, and the approximate range of the starting current can be calculated accordingly.

II. Estimation based on actual measurement and data analysis

1. Use a multimeter for measurement:

- At the moment when the LED large screen starts, use a multimeter or other measuring tool to measure the current value at the output end of the power supply.

This method can obtain more accurate starting current data, but it is necessary to pay attention to safety issues and measurement accuracy during the measurement process.

2. Data analysis:
- If conditions permit, the starting current can be measured multiple times under different conditions (such as different power supply voltages, different ambient temperatures, etc.), and the data can be collected and analyzed.

Through data analysis, the changing rules and influencing factors of the starting current can be discovered, and more accurate estimates can be made based on this.

III. Consider the impact of power supply performance and protection mechanism

- The transient response capability and protection mechanism of the power supply will also affect the starting current. Some high-end power supplies have better transient response capabilities and more complete protection mechanisms, which can reduce the impact of the starting current on the circuit and LED lamp beads to a certain extent.

IV. Precautions

- Since the starting current is affected by many factors, there may be a certain error in the estimation result.

In practical applications, it is necessary to make comprehensive considerations and evaluations based on the specific situation.

- When estimating the starting current, it is necessary to fully consider the capacity and stability of the power supply to ensure that the LED large screen can start and operate stably.

- If conditions permit, it is recommended to conduct actual measurements and data analysis to obtain more accurate starting current data.

In summary, the methods for estimating the starting current of the LED large screen mainly include estimation based on rated power and working current, estimation based on actual measurement and data analysis, and consideration of the influence of power supply performance and protection mechanism.

In practical applications, it is necessary to select a suitable estimation method according to the specific situation, and combine actual measurement and data analysis to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the estimation results.

Methods for estimating starting current

1. Consult the specification sheet: The most direct method is to consult the specification sheet of the LED lamp and the drive circuit.

The specification sheet usually gives the rated operating current of the LED, the maximum output current of the drive circuit, and the characteristic parameters at startup.

2. Experimental measurement: If there is no specification sheet or the data in the specification sheet needs to be verified, the starting current can be estimated by experimental measurement. An ammeter can be used to measure the current passing through the LED when the LED lighting system is started.

It should be noted that since the starting current is instantaneous, an ammeter that can respond quickly needs to be selected for measurement.

3. Estimation formula: In some cases, an estimation formula can also be used to roughly estimate the starting current.

However, it should be noted that the accuracy of this method may be affected by many factors, such as the design of the drive circuit, the stability of the power supply voltage, etc.
